Forcrete Micro-Quartz BATHROOM GUIDE:
BEFORE BEGINNING INSTALLATION
Inspect all walls, floors, corners, plumbing penetrations and drains before starting.
Confirm that all substrates are stable, clean, dry, properly prepared and free of excessive movement. Check for loose boards, protruding screws, cracks, voids, uneven surfaces and moisture concerns.
Complete all plumbing, electrical, substrate repairs and required waterproofing preparations before installation. Test and commission any electric underfloor heating.
IMPORTANT: Do not use Micro-Quartz to fill holes, repair structural cracks or level substrates. Resolve any defects before proceeding. Confirm the approved waterproofing and movement-joint details, particularly at showers, drains and wall-to-floor transitions.
INSTALLATION STEPS
DAY 1 — Substrate Preparation + Reinforcement
WALLS
Prepare the wall substrate by diamond sanding and vacuum thoroughly.
Using a 1/2" nap microfiber roller, apply Monogrip to non-absorbent surfaces or Monoprime to absorbent surfaces. Allow 30–60 minutes to cure, depending on site conditions.
Install scrim tape at all internal corners. Secure fiberglass mesh curtains across all walls using a staple gun, ensuring there are no gaps or overlaps.
Using a flexible steel trowel, apply the first coat of Monostone, fully embedding the mesh. Allow approximately 3–4 hours to cure.
FLOORS
Grind the floor using 36-grit metal-bonded diamonds and vacuum thoroughly.
Apply Forprime DPM using a microfiber roller. Allow approximately 1.5–2.5 hours to cure.
Install fiberglass mesh, securing it with a hot glue gun. Avoid gaps and overlaps.
Using a hard steel trowel, apply Forprime FL, fully encapsulating the mesh. Broadcast 0.2–0.3 mm kiln-dried sand to saturation while the material is wet.
DAY 2 — Basecoat Installation
WALLS
Sand the first Monostone coat using 50-grit diamond pads, removing high spots and ridges.
Vacuum thoroughly.
Apply the second coat of Monostone using a flexible steel trowel. Allow approximately 4 hours to cure.
Sand with 50-grit diamond pads and vacuum thoroughly.
FLOORS
Sweep and reclaim loose broadcast sand.
Grind the Forprime FL basecoat using 36-grit metal-bonded diamonds.
Follow with 50-grit diamond pads to remove grinder marks.
Vacuum thoroughly.
Apply tinted MicroBase XT using a flexible steel trowel. Allow to cure before sanding.
DAY 3 — First Micro-Quartz Coat
WALLS
Confirm that the wall basecoat is flat, fully cured and free of dust.
Using a finishing trowel, apply tinted Micro-Quartz Coarse in the floated technique.
Allow to cure overnight.
FLOORS
Sand MicroBase XT using 50-grit diamond pads.
Vacuum thoroughly.
Using a finishing trowel, apply tinted Micro-Quartz Coarse in the floated technique.
Allow to cure overnight.
Note: Micro-Quartz Coarse is required as the first finish coat, including when the specified final finish is Medium or Smooth.
DAY 4 — Final Wall Finish + Floor Finish
WALLS
Sand the first Micro-Quartz Coarse coat using 100-grit diamond pads. Use 50-grit only where necessary to reduce excessive texture.
Vacuum thoroughly.
Apply the specified final Micro-Quartz Coarse, Medium or Smooth finish using the approved application technique.
Allow to cure overnight.
FLOORS
Sand the first Micro-Quartz Coarse coat using 100-grit diamond pads. Use 50-grit only where necessary to reduce excessive texture.
Vacuum thoroughly.
Apply the specified final Micro-Quartz finish using a finishing trowel.
Allow to cure overnight.
DAY 5 — Sanding + Sealing
WALLS + FLOORS
Sand all finished surfaces to the specified texture using:
100-grit diamond pads for Coarse and Medium.
200-grit diamond pads for Smooth.
Vacuum thoroughly, including all corners, edges and floor-to-wall transitions.
Remove residual dust using a dry microfiber mop.
Using a 1/2" nap microfiber roller, apply the first coat of Forshield 2KWB to the walls and floors.
Allow approximately 4 hours between coats, subject to product instructions and site conditions.
Apply the second coat of Forshield 2KWB, maintaining consistent coverage and avoiding pooling.
DAY 6 — Final Inspection + Handover
Inspect all walls and floors for finish consistency, coverage and visible defects.
Verify that corners, drains, penetrations and movement joints have been completed in accordance with the approved detail.
Confirm the sealer has cured sufficiently before allowing access.
Provide the customer with the appropriate Forcrete aftercare instructions.
Do not expose the bathroom to water or normal service until the specified full curing period has elapsed.
